Nighttime Car Trouble | Luther Automotive Group

As if driving at night wasn't a challenge all on its own, having car trouble at night brings its own set of obstacles along with it. Several precautionary measures should be taken to ensure that your well-being is priority. Luther Auto Group is committed to helping the customer, and passing along any sort of advice is just one way we do that.

So you're driving along, minding your own business, when your car decides to have a moment, derailing your current excursion. What do you do?

The obvious first thing you should do is get off the road. Pull off to the right side of the road, and get far enough off of the shoulder that your vehicle can sit level, but opening your door won't put you in danger of passing vehicles. Once you're stopped, put your hazard lights on so others can know to give you some extra space.

Your next course of action needs to be making a phone call. This could be anyone. Call a friends, a family member, AAA services, a tow truck, anyone. Someone needs to know that you need some assistance on the side of the road, because you'll need it unless you're some sort of master technician with all your equipment with you. If that does happen to be the case, then carry on.

Finally, don't try to fix the problem yourself. You may know your way around a vehicle better than any technician that ever lived, but now is not the time to be a hero. Let someone else take the reins for a second. In times like this it's better to be safe than sorry, especially when the alternative is sitting on the side of the road with a car that is more broke than it was to begin with.

Stay safe!
