What is Android Auto? | Luther Automotive Group

Drivers can now get a whole new entertainment experience in vehicles thanks to Android Auto. It’s available in many 2015 and 2016 models including the Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Colorado and Kia Optima.

What is Android Auto? It’s Google’s solution for bringing the power of your smartphone to your car’s infotainment system. You can now use your phone through the car’s touchscreen. In other words, Android Auto projects a customized version of your Android phone onto the in-car display when the phone is plugged into the car via USB.

You can use all your phone apps while behind the wheel, such as Google Maps, Google Play Music, Google Now and third-party apps such as Spotify and Pandora.

How can you access your apps? It works pretty much like your phone. All you have to do is swipe and tap, or even speak to navigate to your apps.

Android Auto requires a phone running the Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system or higher.
