Motors Welcomes Minnesota Gopher

Although having an intern at Luther Automotive isn’t unheard of, this summer was the first time Motors welcomed one into their St. Louis Park office. Jalen Logan-Redding, a defensive lineman for the Minnesota Gophers, learned the in-and-outs of running an automotive business during his summer internship at Motors.

Logan-Redding, originally from Columbia, Missouri, committed to the Minnesota Gophers in 2019, after head coach, P.J. Fleck came to his highschool to watch him play. “It meant a lot to me how serious Minnesota was about me. After they visited me, I knew if I didn’t commit there, I would regret it,” said Logan-Redding.

During his freshman year in 2020, Logan-Redding played two games, then in 2021, he played four so he could be redshirted. In 2022, his sophomore year, Logan-Redding started 12 out of the 13 games he played in.

Besides being impressive on the field, Logan-Redding is currently studying Business Marketing Education, as he hopes to become an entrepreneur and own his own dealership one day. “I chose this program because it allows me to balance school and play football, while also giving me the necessities so I can open my own business in any field,” said Logan-Redding. 

However, to graduate from his program, Logan-Redding needed to complete an internship. Knowing that he would eventually like to own his own dealership, he was able to connect with Andy Gadient and become the first summer intern at Motors. 

Throughout his internship, Logan-Redding learned many of the essentials on how to run a business, from marketing and social media to learning finance, service, sales, and much more. “I went to a lot of different dealerships and buildings throughout my internship. I feel like now that I’ve ended my internship, I know what I need to attack and what the industry is going towards when I open my own business,” said Logan-Redding. In the near future, Logan-Redding hopes to start up a photography business while he finishes school.
