Brookdale Mazda Opens New Genius Position

While some new employees may be ready to dive deep into the sales world, others might need to develop a bit more experience and knowledge before going out on their own. At least that was the case for Nick Igbinovia, a Genius for Brookdale Mazda.

Igbinovia started working as a detailer for Mazda two years ago. After being in that position for a few months, he moved to a lot attendant until promoted to the Genius position late last year. “The Genius position is essentially an intro to a sales position,” said Igbinovia. “We are here to help the salespeople, but we’re also here to help ensure that guests are happy with their purchase and know everything about their new vehicle.”

The Genius position allows employees who are new to sales to gain a bit of experience before going off on their own. In this position, the employee will learn everything they need to know about the vehicles at their dealership, from how a specific vehicle works to its impressive features. This comes in handy when salespeople are busy and the Genius needs to take the guest on test drives and answer any questions they might have. 

“This position has helped me learn bits and pieces from everyone. Now, I’ve had a lot of practice selling cars, and I even sold my first one.” 

Igbinovia was the first employee to become a Genius at Brookdale Mazda. Since he started this position in September 2022, Mazda has added two more Geniuses to their dealership, Jasmine Lewis and Tamara Oselskaia. Igbinovia is hoping to make a full transition into sales soon. “I think this position will make my start in sales a lot easier and smoother.”
