Mark Morcomb’s Lasting Legacy

April 14th, 2025 by

After 30 years of service to Luther Automotive, Mark Morcomb is retiring as VP of Fixed Operations. Morcomb leaves behind an impressive legacy, being the driving force behind many Luther Automotive initiatives, including Luther Glass, Collision, Paintless Dent Repair, APS, the Call Center, and Towing. Mark and the Fixed Operations team’s most innovative accomplishment, the Luther Technical Training Center. The program launched over three years ago and has set Luther apart from every other automotive group in the country. The first class to complete all five modules graduated last summer, with more classes to come.

“While I’m happy for him to set out on his next adventure with Sue, he has been an integral part of our team and we’re going to miss him!” wrote David Luther. “Mark’s passion, drive, mentorship, compassion, and work ethic are just extraordinary.”

Morcomb stepped down at the end of March and Matt Carlson, Service Specialist, has stepped into the role. Carlson started with Luther in 2010 but had been working with Luther previously in a consulting role. “I’ve had a lot of good mentors along the way, from sergeants in the army to people in business. But lots of people have helped me along the way at Luther, mainly Mark and the entire Fixed Ops team,” said Carlson.

Carlson has worked in service support since joining and has always worked closely with Morcomb. “The number one thing I’ve learned from Mark is being the neutral person,” said Carlson. “Even when we were doing really good, he always asked how we can be better and kept us humble. And when things were going bad, he was always the calm in the storm.”

Outside of work, Matt loves to garden in his 10,000-square-foot garden. He germinates and harvests his own plants. He also coaches two basketball teams in Hudson. Thank you Mark Morcomb for your dedicated service to Luther and congrats to Matt Carlson on your new role!
